The ICO now direct that every Dental Practice MUST have a fully trained and officially ICO registered Data Protection Officer. Before you can fill out the June 2026 Data Security and Protection Toolkit you must appoint a qualified DPO. For many small small dental practices this can be a financial burden they can ill afford. To engage the services of an independent DPO can be costly and finding the right DPO can be confusing and difficult.
The Data Protection Officers Association have a solution for you that can save you thousands of pounds a year. Every year!
This solution will allow you to appoint an in house DPO with no conflict of interests and who can be progressively trained up to become expert in UK GDPR law. They can fulfil all of the requirements for an In House DPO saving the pharmacy thousands of pound a year, every year!
This is due to a clear conflict of interest.
However a pharmacy technician or another member of staff can be appointed to be the DPO IF they have been properly trained!

The final exam is taken online by multiple choice and the student can take the exam as many times as needed to pass at no extra cost.
Upon completion students will be awarded certification, letters after their names and full membership of the Data Protection Officers Association.
